Renewable Energy Zones bring generation, storage and network infrastructure together in areas selected for their energy resources and grid potential.
What is a REZ?
EnergyCo is planning network infrastructure for NSW Renewable Energy Zones, while private developers bring forward wind, solar and storage projects. The interactive map identifies REZ boundaries, existing networks and selected infrastructure layers.
Hunter–Central Coast REZ
The Hunter–Central Coast zone includes upgrades to existing distribution infrastructure and new network works to connect future renewable generation and storage. EnergyCo is the infrastructure planner. The zone was formally declared in December 2022.
Other NSW zones
EnergyCo’s map also covers Central-West Orana, New England, South West and Illawarra Renewable Energy Zones. Each zone has its own planning, network and access processes.
For landowners and project teams
A location inside a mapped zone does not by itself confer development consent, access rights or a grid connection. Check the current EnergyCo layers, land constraints, network capacity, planning pathway and project-specific requirements before making investment decisions.
